Description  Outburst of 100.000 cubic meters of water from "Lago Nuovo" and "Lago Nuovissimo" (proglacial lakes), probably during late autumn.
Effects:  Water flew into Lago del Rutor, that increased a little bit its level, then along Rutor river, but without causing any damage.

Note  The phoenomenon occurred in four consecutive years in 1594, 1595, 1596, 1597; Carlo Emanuele I, duke of Savoia, entrusted a research to two engineers, in order to find solutions to this problem. The engineer Giacomo Soldati, proposed to buils a dam under the lake, that would have held all the flood-water from the lake (till 4 mio m3); the swiss engineer Tubinger proposed to build a tunnel 400 m long through the mountain, that would have drained water from the bottom of the lake, preventing its formation. But both this solutions were not applied, because of high costs. So outbursts continued...
