Vero o Falso?

L’alone visibile attorno al sole o alla luna è un fenomeno ottico riconducibile alla presenza dei cirrostrati. I cristalli di ghiaccio, di cui queste nubi sono costituite, diffondono e deviano i raggi luminosi creando questo fenomeno ottico. I cirrostrati spesso sono associati ad un aumento dell’umidità in quota ed annunciano spesso l’arrivo di un fronte caldo. Se l’alone è visibile, pioggia o neve potrebbero seguire.
Inoltre la dimensione dell’anello potrebbe essere un’indicazione della vicinanza della perturbazione, come recita uno degli adagi. L’anello appare più o meno grande a seconda della quota delle nubi: più sono basse, maggiore appare la sua larghezza e più prossimo il brutto tempo.

True or False?

The halo around the sun or the moon is a consequence of a presence of a layer of cirrus clouds – the so-called cirrustratus clouds – which are made of ice crystals. These ice crystals act as tiny prisms, forming a white or sometimes colourful halo around the sun or the moon. This cirrostratus cloud often indicate an approaching warm front and an associated area of low pressure. Rain or snow will not always follow, but there is a higher probability of it after a halo is seen.
