Note |
The phoenomenon occurred in four consecutive years in 1594, 1595, 1596, 1597; Carlo Emanuele I, duke of Savoia, entrusted a research to two engineers, in order to find solutions to this problem. The engineer Giacomo Soldati, proposed to buils a dam under the lake, that would have held all the flood-water from the lake (till 4 mio m3); the swiss engineer Tubinger proposed to build a tunnel 400 m long through the mountain, that would have drained water from the bottom of the lake, preventing its formation. But both this solutions were not applied, because of high costs. So outbursts continued... |
