Il cumulonembo è una nube spessa, contenente grandi gocce di acqua. A causa della sua estensione verticale, esso non lascia filtrare fino all’osservatore la luce solare. Quindi, visto dalla terra, esso appare nettamente più scuro del cumulo del bel tempo. Il cumulonembo produce raffiche di vento e intensi rovesci associati a fulmini.
